Day Nine: Deep See Fishing and Solo Time

No sunrise pictures today.... what???
We got up at about Midnight because B. had a Deep Sea Fishing
trip booked with Die Hard and he had to be at Lahaina Harbor by about 1AM.
I drove him there and dropped him off and I got to go "home" and
go back to sleep... I think it was getting light when I woke up.

I planned all along that on this day when he was gone fishing I would go running... this is a new adventure for me; I have never been
a runner but was asked if I wanted to run the Maui 1/2 Marathon in
September and I thought... why not?! So I figured I would run
at least once while I was there, it was a short run, but I really enjoyed it.
There are so many people running and walking the Lower Road in Honokowai everyday, it was fun to be one of them for a change.

After my run I went walking to Farmers Market... of course! It was Wednesday so outdoor market, my favorite!
I saw this little bird along the way, I have not seen one before and I have not yet looked him up to see what kind he is.

Well of course I stopped at the park and watched birds and walked along the ocean for a bit... I could go here everyday.

Free Smoothie in Paradise!
From Farmers Market, they give you a coupon with every $25 or $50 spent at the outdoor market.

On my way back "home" I saw the Groundskeeper at Nohonani and asked if I could go snoop around the place. He said it would be fine so I took
some pics of the view and landscaping.

When I got back I got ready to head out. I had to be in Lahaina by around 11 to pick B. up. I stopped at ABC store to buy some postcards and then headed to Lahaina. I got there by 11 and sat and wrote postcards by the Harbor.
After a bit I asked and found out they had lost an engine and were slow coming in; it was going to be about another hour so I walked to a few shops and really just enjoyed my surroundings. This morning alone was really pretty cool, it was the first time I have been solo on Maui, it was very calming to have all the time in the world to wander and just "be".

While I was walking around in the shops I got this picture texted to me from B., so I was super excited for him to get back so I could see it!!

He has been talking about catching a Mahi Mahi and cooking it for me for dinner for months! I was pretty sure that is what kind of fish this was but I asked the guy at the dock to be sure. He told me he heard a guy caught a 40# Mahi Mahi and that this must be it... I was so excited and knew B. must be too!!!

Here is a better picture we got later when I could download it off his camera.

A few more pictures taken on the boat that day.

Waiting for B.'s ship to come in... tee hee

Here they come!!!

I was so excited when I finally saw B.!
As you can see in the next few pics he was wiped out, they were out almost 12 hours and he was just in a hurry to go.

He really enjoyed the fishing trip a lot... however, he would tell you now that even if you have never been sea sick before when they call and tell you what you can take for sea sickness, listen to them, follow the regimen they tell you and you won't have to find out later that it is too late.
He got sick just before he caught his fish when he was down in the cabin...

I guess the captain does not have to give you fish, it is called "captain's catch", but Captain Fuzzy of Die Hard does share with the fisherman, the others all caught tuna but everyone chose Mahi Mahi as the fish to take home.
He gave Bruce maybe 4 or 5 lbs of fish, we had it for 3 days and I think 5 meals all together. It was so good cooked on the grill and Captain Fuzzy had also given him strict orders about how long to cook to avoid over cooking.

If you want to go fishing with a Captain who is very intent on getting you on fish and very passionate about what he does you will enjoy this trip.
B. said he gets very wound up when you have a fish on, he is pretty much hollering at you what to do but it is from excitement, he really loves
what he is doing and wants you to catch your fish.

With a very tired husband in tow we headed "home" for a relaxing afternoon of Nothing! We pretty much just hung out on the lanai and at the seawall.

We saw a turtle resting in front of Nohonani nearly everyday that we were there.

Sassy B.! (I love the hands on the hips!)

No Mahi Mahi tonight, B. was worn out and told me to get dressed and he would take me to dinner... you don't have to tell me twice.
...and we were off to Aloha Mixed Plate, of course.
I don't want to be anywhere where I might miss the sunset.

He is finally trying Loco Moco! Conor had it here on New Year's Eve when we all went out for breakfast and he really liked it so B. tried it and also thought it was very good.

I had the hamburger steak with no gravy and salad with lemon.
...no Teri, I did NOT eat the croutons :)

We had come to a perfect spot for the sunset...
...it was spectacular, again!

We even made it "home" for the post sunset at Kulakane!

...next up, Kahekili Beach Park, fishies, and an eel!
