Day Four: Just "Being" on Maui

Today was all about just "being" on Maui...

I woke up still not feeling well today and of course called my Sister who I knew would have a remedy. ...she also loves Maui so this gave me a reason to call and share some Aloha with her.
I told her my symptoms, light headed, dizzy, nervous feeling stomach... she first asked if I had been drinking enough water as these are signs of dehydration, (I had not realized I had not been drinking near the amount of water I normally do, so coupled with being in the hot sun all day for a few days this made sense) also she said I had just flown on planes with and been in airports with millions of germs. She told me I was on an island full of ginger plants and I needed to get some ginger root to settle my stomach.

So off we went to Farmers Market, we walked as I wanted the fresh air and it is only a few minutes walk from Kulakane.
It was Friday so they were open outside. I found the ginger root right away and then overheard a conversation about someone feeling sick with my same symptoms so I was quick to eaves drop... One of my favorite gentlemen at the market (who's name I plan to learn in September...) was telling her what to buy inside the store and how it works for so many people who have felt this way. I asked and they said to go in and buy myself some packets of Emergen-C. Another woman overheard our conversation and told me it is a miracle cure, so I did just that. I started taking it right away when we got back that day and also drank some ginger tea. I started to feel better quickly! I continued to drink ginger tea and take the Emergen-C for my entire trip and felt great. Also I made sure I kept drinking plenty of water. I am sharing this so it may help someone else get feeling better sooner, I wish I had known this the previous day.
(I'm not a doctor... I just play one on TA... couldn't resist!)

Okay, enough of that, here are some pictures we took on our walk "home" from Farmers Market.

At Honokowai Beach Park, what a beautiful spot this is, I loved being
so close to it, I guess we really just love the neighborhood feel of Honokowai.

 B. with a cup of Bad Ass Coffee... (I wish they would have a different name)
...for those who know me, you know I didn't want to write that. :)

This is for you, Marie!
Nohonani is next door to Kulakane and I am including this picture for
my very dear friend who stays there!

After I had some ginger and Emergen-C I was ready to hang out in our backyard and over at our North beach for a while.

I love when B. has that "far away" look on his face...
like he's a million miles from anywhere and totally at peace...

I laid out on a lounge chair for a while before we headed over to the beach.
B. swam more than me but I did get in for a while today,
mostly I walked the beach and collected sea glass and a few peices
of pretty broken shells.
That beach is the best place I have been on Maui for sea glass.
I was starting to feel like myself and that was a good feeling!

 My collection from today.

I also had picked up some fallen Plumeria in the front and put them
in a dish as well, they make a nice center piece.
We talked to our friends from home who were going to be leaving tonight and invited them over for lunch, B. said he would do burgers on the grill and they were all over it.

We were so excited to see them again, it was sad they could not make the New Year's Eve cruise with us and we had hoped to spend some time together.

We work with two of them, Jerrod and Cassie, also along with them were Jerrod's Dad, Randy(Cassie's boyfriend), Jerrod's wife, Sheila and
her parent's, Ron and Lorraine.

When they got there we were still hanging out in the back and took them on a walk all around the grounds, they quickly fell in love with the area too!
I think Lorraine and I could both look at flowers all day long!
It was great to walk and talk and have time together before they had to go.
Again today we got caught up and forgot about taking pics so I only have a few.
They brought some chips along and I think some salsa and some burger buns and I pattied burgers while Cassie cut up a bunch of fruit we had into a big fresh fruit salad, I was glad I had some apple bananas because they had never tried them before and they were a good addition to the pineapple, apples & coconut.

Of course there were Maui Sweet Onions and tomatoes as well.
Who doesn't love fresh fruits and veggies on Maui?

Here is the whole gang! (...including me once again photo bombing in the glass sliding doors...)
Clockwise around the table, Cassie, Ron, Randy, Jerrod, Sheila, Lorraine
and of course  you know B.

 Lorraine watching the birds, she just loved them; another thing we both love;
I think her and I could hang out and really have a good time.

Ron, he looks like he belongs here!

Sadly we had to say goodbye to them, I think it was hard for them knowing that we would still be there two weeks and that they had to go... (they had been there since Dec 23rd)

When they had gone B. asked if I wanted to go in and walk around Lahaina.
Yes!!! I was so excited, I love walking around there and I was not going
to turn down the opportunity.

We got ready and headed to town and found the free parking lot. If you are looking for it you can just turn off of Honoapiilani HWY (HWY 30) onto Prison street and you will run right into it. The parking is free for 3 hours.

When we got out of the car there was a big rainbow!
The picture does not do it justice.

We walked around and shopped and it was kind of raining so after a bit we decided to stop somewhere for dinner.
We went to Cheeseburger in Paradise, our first time there, Bruce really liked my burger and I had some kind of chicken pineapple sandwich without the sandwich.. they were really good at modifying the food to fit my likes.
We also really liked our table at the window and although it was raining I still found the view to be quite lovely!
After all, it is Maui, and it was the ocean, can't ruin that with a little rain.

It was getting dark but we walked around a bit yet; we both found some things, Bruce got some t-shirts and I got a new hat.
It was really nice to just "be" there; we enjoyed our walk around town very much that day, it was nice and easy, the perfect day for me after
feeling so yucky earlier on.
B. said that since we had so many more days this trip he didn't mind spending time walking around and shopping with me; last time when our trip was shorter he felt like this type of activity took away from too many other things
like beach time and snorkeling.

My new hat!

We got back home just in time to catch the tail end of the sunset, I just have a few
pictures of it today.

Today was perfect, no plans, just being with friends, being with each other,

"being" on Maui...
