Day Three: New Year's Day ~ 2015

Happy New Year!
2015

Took a picture of my Farmers Market bouquet while I was waiting for my morning tea... that 5 minute steep time feels long when you are waiting to get out on the lanai in the morning.

Life is good... I can't think of a better place to hang with Earl Grey!

I sat here for the first time today with enough time to soak in a bit of the surroundings; we have been on the run! Also the first few days you could hardly see Lanai and Molokai so it was nice seeing them this morning... oh I miss watching the island wake up...

As I do everywhere I go, I made friends with the birds on this trip.
This is Fluffy, he showed up every time I as much as peeked out my window... he was no fool, he knew where the cheese crackers were.

I'm always happy to see the Myna Birds show up, for some reason on this trip they were pretty stand-offish...

The Doves were regular guests but only saw the Red Crested Cardinals a few times, I just love them all and they add to the feeling of "home" for me.

I took a few pictures of our backyard this morning, I really hadn't checked it out the first two days too much as we were so busy.

We decided we wanted to get our feet wet and headed to the beach just North of us, there is a gate and set of stairs leading there.

We had to click this photo quick!

 ...the opportunity was short lived.
...of course! a B. & T. selfie! First one of 2015!

We have our re-booked whale watch today with Captain Steve's, it was booked for 12:15 so we decided to leave early and go to our favorite spot for breakfast.

I will never get tired of the views at Aloha Mixed Plate!
B. enjoying a glass of POG!

After breakfast we just had the short drive to Mala Ramp to meet Teri, Brian and Conor. We were so excited to get out on the water again!

As we were waiting on the ramp and before Teri and family showed up a very sweet young girl said to me "are you littlered from Trip Advisor"? WOW! I never expected that and it was really pretty cool!

This is TA's Idreamofthebeach!
A total sweetheart, I was blessed to meet her! She heard B. telling someone we were from Wisconsin and said she knew then for sure it was me.
I hope she knows she really made my day, maybe we'll meet on Maui again when we have more time!

Our party showed up soon and we were quick to board and get seats up front; I really did not want to get soaked again.

Here is the one and only picture I have to share from our wale watch... as chance would have it I started feeling sick while we were out that day; it hit me suddenly and I was done for. I tried to be polite and have fun but I was not myself and I know Teri could tell something was wrong and I felt a little bad but all I could think was that I wanted to get back "home" and crawl in bed...
I honestly don't remember what we saw for whales, I did not even remember that I had not taken pictures that day.

...okay, as I was typing that last sentence I started to second guess myself; I was thinking... what? I think I did take pictures; just tore the house apart and found a lost camera card!!! (in a spot I put it so I would know where it was at... that never works...) I could have deleted the sentence and just posted pics but this is more fun... you are living the same suspense as me! :)
I have to go through them now and I will hopefully find some good ones!
Had to share this one because it is my absolute favorite view looking back at Maui from the water; I don't know why but it gets me every time...
Well, as I remember now we had not seen much that day; a lot of whales teasing us and I will share a few pics I did manage to get. about 1/2 way through though, as I said, I started to feel sick and I stopped taking pictures.

This little boat actually got a pretty good show.

We said our goodbyes with Teri's crew very quickly that afternoon; I just wanted to get in bed, I couldn't muster up any more ambition than that.

I took a nice long nap, probably about two hours. I was still not feeling too great when I woke up but I knew I wanted to get up and go outside.
B. coaxed me into going over to the little north beach again and I waded around and walked in the sand and he went out swimming.

The fresh air felt good but I did not last long.

I don't remember what we did for dinner; B. must have grilled, but not sure what we had, maybe burgers and sweet potatoes.

The Sunset was amazing, it was really the first one we got to watch and I could not get enough of it; once I start clicking I can't stop. Warning you now you are bound to see many, many sunsets over the course of my blog.

Headed to bed early, looking forward to another fun day tomorrow. We have plans to spend some time with our friends from here at home. Tomorrow is their last day and we want to give them a warm Maui send off!
